When getting ready for vacation, having a checklist is important, but if you forget to add the item to the list, then checklist or not, you’re in trouble! Aside from Passport (or other official ID if not going into international waters) what else should you not forget to bring on your cruise?
They might seem like basics but these are important items that many people forget as they walk out the door. If you think you might forget anyway, download the “Last Minute - Don’t Forget” sheet to glance at before you leave for your cruise! (Check below)
Passport - This is the type of ID that will get you where you need to be. Alternatively a passport card. Check the regulations for your cruise line to make sure you have the correct ID needed in order to board for your vacation. You don’t want to be stuck at the departing port, realizing that you can’t board for your cruise and you can’t get your money back because it was in the terms for boarding (that few people read).
If you don’t have the ID you need, make sure you apply for it a minimum of 6 weeks ahead of time, though as these things can take a while to process, especially post-Covid, a few months gives you some wiggle room.
Electronics - It’s easy to forget your phone on your night table. Make sure you have it with you and that you have screenshots of items like boarding passes and hotel reservations. Make sure you also send the details to yourself via email, so that if something happens to your main device you can obtain that information easily.
Which leads to…
Chargers - For your phone, camera, and any other device that might be important to bring.
Medication and Supplements - Even if you’re not prone to being sick a new environment can bring on feelings of sickness when least expected. Be it a headache, cold, sinus issues or sea sickness. Bring any type of medications you might normally take when you’re home, and a couple of extra items such as those noted above.
Clothes - This seems obvious, but specifically a layer for the heat and one for the cold depending on where you’re going. If you’re going somewhere warm, you can encounter air conditioning. If you’re going somewhere colder, you never know when there’s a warm day, or your stateroom doesn’t become as cool as you’d like.
Cash and Credit Cards - Cash in the local currency as well as cash from your home country. Even if it’s a few dollars to start, it helps to have enough for a quick lunch, a bottle or water, a cab or similar.
Addresses - Of course you’ll have this information available on your phone, but if for some reason it’s not easily available, it’s good to have a hard copy in a bag, pocket or your luggage.
Copies of important documents - Similar to the above. If you wind up without an important form of ID or a credit card, having a copy of the front and back is important.
