Why you SHOULD book a balcony on a cruise ship.

As an avid cruiser, I've booked inside rooms, ocean views, balconies and suites. As of a few years ago, I decided that I'd only book balcony staterooms or higher when cruising.

Reason 1 to book a balcony on a cruise:

Fresh air. Whenever you want or need it. Do you want to sleep like a baby? Leave that balcony door a few inches open when you're in bed. The sound of the ocean, the breeze and it's like having a natural sleeping pill.

Reason 2 to book a balcony on a cruise:

Extra space. If you're cruising with someone else, be it a spouse, significant other or friend, having a separate spot to enjoy when one person is inside the stateroom is great.

Reason 3 to book a balcony on a cruise:

Eliminate cabin fever! Sometimes ports are skipped due to weather or other issues. It's easy to feel cooped up, especially if you're sharing a space. The balcony gives you a chance to feel like you're outside, even if you're not walking around.

Reason 4 to book a balcony on a cruise:

The best views! Of course you could get those views elsewhere on the ship, but it's very relaxing to do so from the confort of your stateroom.

Sunrises, sunsets, clouds and a drink in hand, without having to look for a spot outside. Can't beat that!

Happy cruising!
